Caravela is Portuguese for "caravel", the sailing ships once used to cross the Atlantic. A fitting name since these beans make that same crossing today aboard a modern sailing cargo ship powered by wind. Grown in the Brazilian highlands of Manhuaçu and Muqui, the beans are washed, then roasted in Switzerland at 1000 m altitude, where the lower atmospheric pressure allows for a gentler, low-acidity roast. Expect a smooth, malty cup with notes of cane sugar and woody depth. Certified organic and Fairtrade, these beans work well as an espresso, filter coffee or cold brew.
